Rebuilding Elevators

Unlike ailerons and/or other controls relating to the wing, elevators have no “twist” built into their design.  These controls attach to the horizontal stabilizer, which also possess no twist “wash out”.  The control configuration is very important to recognize.  More often than not, an elevator tapers in thickness from inboard to outboard.  This factor must be taken into consideration when attempting a repair or rebuild.  Inasmuch as the “top” will zero degree from inboard to outboard, the “bottom” portion of the elevator will degree differently, (assuming there is a taper to the forward spar).  Also, the position of the control itself must duplicate this position as on the aircraft.  The hinge alignment must also duplicate itself to the horizontal stabilizer, both vertical and parallel.  RJ Dauhn Aircraft has both the equipment and expertise to perform these requirements to your satisfaction.
